LES BENJAMINS Campaign AW -2024

Analog Photography

This shoot blends the philosophical depth of Yoko Ono’s “Half a Room” with the rebellious spirit of Punk. By featuring objects and figures split in half, the concept explores the tension between incompleteness and self-identity. The minimalist blue-green setting, with half-visible chairs and other elements merging with the walls, symbolizes society's attempt to divide the individual. The Punk ethos transforms this division into a statement of defiance, asserting that even when fractured, one remains whole.

Concept: Yoko Ono’s “Half a Room” explores duality and incompleteness by cutting everyday objects—shoes, bookshelves, chairs—into halves, revealing a tension between absence and presence, visibility and invisibility. This philosophical reflection on the fragmented self resonates with the rebellious spirit of Punk, a movement that defies societal norms and rejects imposed identities.

Merging Philosophy and Punk Spirit: The idea of being "half" can be reinterpreted through the lens of Punk as a statement of defiance and self-awareness. While Ono’s work highlights the incompleteness of the self, Punk's ethos is about reclaiming that sense of self, even when society attempts to split or diminish it. Each “half” object in this shoot symbolizes an external force trying to divide or categorize the individual, while the Punk spirit is manifested through the distortion, transformation, or even destruction of these objects, pushing back against those efforts.
