"Han Yang's oeuvre is a profound meditation on cultural intersectionality, identity, and the evolving human condition. Drawing deeply from a background enriched by both Eastern and Western influences, her work creates a visual and conceptual dialogue that reflects the complexities and harmonies inherent in navigating dual cultural heritages. This body of work offers an innovative amalgamation of traditional Chinese aesthetics and contemporary Western themes, resulting in a dynamic interplay that challenges and redefines conventional artistic boundaries.
The artist’s journey began within the rich cultural tapestry of traditional Chinese education, where meticulous craftsmanship and an appreciation for subtle beauty were paramount. These formative experiences instilled a dedication to the nuanced and intricate details that characterize Eastern art forms. However, exposure to Western culture, particularly through the fashion industry, introduced a contrasting set of values focused on immediacy and bold expression. This cultural duality is evident in works like the "Invisible" series, where the assertiveness of Western femininity meets the serene and symbolic elements of Eastern ink painting. This fusion generates a compelling visual tension, echoing the artist’s own experience of cultural fragmentation and synthesis." by Curator Sophia Alvarez
